The purpose of the lesson: To be able to learn and pronounce vocabulary related to home
Size of the class: 40 students
Age: 13 years old/grade 7
Class length: 45 minutes
Place on the board pictures representing house items. Ask the students to work in groups and get them to look at the pictures on the board. They have to try to identify the objects and write the name of objects on the board.
Once all the answers are on the board, get the students to write it down in their notebooks.
r Washing machine
Table and chairs
Go through the pronunciation of the words, ask the students to repeat and then choose individual students to read the words (you can go through pronunciation with individual groups, only girls then only boys etc).
Draw a picture of a house on the board; label the rooms so the students understand the names of rooms in a house. Ask the students to write what furniture would typically be found in each room.
How many rooms are there in your house? What are they?
What things are there in your bedroom/bathroom/kitchen/living room?
Are there any chairs in your living room?
Is there a TV in your bedroom?
Get the students to work in pairs and ask and answer the questions. Let them work together to ask what they have in their house (look at conversation question 3 and 4).
